US 12,680,057 B2 (Kristin Rhedrick Williams, Jaden Scott Zerhusen, Amanee Daarina Salaam); Procter & Gamble has patented a fabric care composition comprising a plurality of particles in which a fabric care active, selected from perfume, fabric softener actives, cationic polymers, malodor control agents, or mixtures thereof, is dispersed within a modified starch matrix having a dextrose equivalent of 4 to less than 15. The particles also incorporate 0–3% by weight of a liquid plasticizer polyol, 1–10% by weight water, and approximately 15–40% by weight of a sugar alcohol polyol selected from maltitol, lactitol, trehalose, tagatose, sucralose, or mixtures thereof. The sugar alcohol and modified starch are maintained at a weight ratio of 1:5 to 1:1, a formulation approach intended to stabilize and control release of the active ingredient within fabric care applications such as laundry detergents and softeners.
